Building and history
The section between Weesperzijde and Wibautstraat is characterised by stately mansions at Ruyschstraat 3-9 and 4-10, two blocks with four houses each from 1884 designed and built under the supervision of the famous architect A.L. van Gendt, who also built the Concertbuilding, the Stadsschouwburg Theatre and café De Ysbreeker. This section was restored after municipal plans for demolition and new construction in the nineties of the last century were blocked by committed private owners and residents.
